About Me

You know when you think you just can't fall any further? You can. And it often looks different than you expect when it hits you. My fall looked something like this: Sixty head of cattle stampeding toward me and my borrowed, greenbroke, 16.2 hand (that's big!), tricolor paint gelding who suddenly found the scaredy-cat and rodeo bronc bug in his hiney all at the same time. My claim to fame in this episode of my life is that I held on longer than the required eight seconds to get my score.

Considering the condition of my life at the time, this wake up call was not what I expected. I was expecting divorce, insanity, hospitalization from exhaustion, ... any one of the "normal" mid-life crises. Turns out, what the world threw at me was exactly what I needed. It'd been telling me I was running away, running through, and leaving my life behind, but I hadn't been listening. So, it stopped me in my tracks when I hit the ground so hard I couldn't walk for five months.

Leaves very little room for excuses, and all the time in the world for consideration, that. What did I do? I chose to utilize the time and make some personal changes. ThinkItOut.net and Simple Self Help evolved along with me. Now I want to share it all with you.

Oh, and in case you're wondering, I chose to write under the pen name J.D. Rhodes as a reminder to myself to never get caught up in material worries again. J.D. stands for "Just Dusty" Rhodes. I came up with this in honor and remembrance of my maternal grandfather, Elmer "Dusty" Rhodes. He was a man who made an impression with his very being. He believed that if something needed to be done, you should just do it. He did not believe in procrastination or excuses. Anymore ... Neither do I.

About Heidi

I met my come uppance or wake up call many years ago, and have been overinvolved in bettering myself for a lot of years. Not listening to my body wreaked havoc on my life. I finally figured out that I had to go within, and learn the language it was speaking. That is where all my wisdom lies. I heard the messages loud and clear about finding my true self, making significant changes, learning to deal with whatever self shows up each day, and figuring out how to accept that self, too. But I don't like to write, so my way of sharing comes in different forms. Laughter is my favorite. It gets me through just about any curve the world throws at me. ~Heidi

Together, we learned how to navigate the muddy waters, and keep each other grounded. That's what sisters are for, right? Then we realized how much fun it was and how naturally it came to us and thought, "why not help other people the same way?" We chose a simple goal to share upfront truths and open communication regarding the fact that life is tough, but it doesn't have to be stressful and unhappy.

The information we provide and the products we sell are meant to encourage active thought and new perspectives in every situation every day. And it doesn't stop there. This site will eventually be a plethora of offerings, information, and services including Children's books, Laughter classes, Reiki, forums, and more.

We believe committment, responsibility, and finding the humor in everything can make a difference for the better in anyone's life. Lighten up and learn to live and laugh with us. Just ThinkItOut!
